Roblox won't launch

If clicking play does nothing, or Roblox flashes open and immediately closes, the most common cause on Windows 10/11 N editions is missing media components. N editions of Windows ship without the codecs and frameworks Roblox needs to start. Install Microsoft's free Media Feature Pack (Settings → Apps → Optional features → Add an optional feature) or the WMF package for your Windows version, reboot, and try again.

If that isn't it, check the obvious next: a pending Roblox update mid-download (relaunch once more), antivirus quarantining files, or a recently added fast flag — remove any manual flags you added last.

Stuck on "Downloading Roblox"

A download that crawls forever or freezes at a percentage is almost always a corrupted cache rather than a network problem. Delete BootStrap's download cache:

Paste that path into File Explorer, delete the folder's contents entirely, then launch again — BootStrap will re-download from scratch cleanly. If it still stalls, try switching networks (mobile hotspot is a quick test), since some ISPs throttle the CDN Roblox uses.

Byfron dialog issues

Roblox's anticheat (Hyperion, commonly called Byfron) shows its own warning dialogs when something about the client environment looks off. If you see one while using BootStrap:

• Take the message seriously — screenshot it first.
• Remove any manual fast flags you've added recently; obscure or conflicting values are the usual trigger.
• Strip your mods folder back to empty temporarily. If the dialog disappears, reintroduce mods one at a time to find the culprit.
• As a last resort, do a clean reinstall of Roblox through BootStrap (see Full reset below).

Multi-instance not working

First confirm the feature is actually enabled: Settings → Integrations → Allow multiple Roblox instances. If it is and a second client still won't appear, check for the admin-elevation caveat: if one Roblox session is running elevated (launched as administrator) and you start another non-elevated, Windows treats them as separate security contexts and the second can silently fail. Run all instances at the same elevation level — ideally none elevated.

Also remember performance limits: with many clients already open, new ones may take noticeably longer to reach the login screen. Wait it out before assuming failure.

Where logs live

Every launch writes a timestamped log file here:

%TEMP%\BootStrap\Logs

Paste it into File Explorer's address bar. The newest file covers the most recent launch. When asking for help, attach this file — it usually pinpoints the exact failure in seconds. Logs rotate automatically, so there's no need to clean them out.

Full reset

Sometimes starting over is fastest. Uninstall BootStrap from within its own Settings page (or via Add/Remove Programs → "BootStrap"). During uninstall you'll see a checkbox:

• "Keep my settings and mods" checked (default) — your configuration, presets, themes and Modifications folder survive the uninstall, so reinstalling restores everything exactly as it was.
• Unchecked — everything under %LOCALAPPDATA%\BootStrap is wiped, including cached downloads and logs, giving you a truly factory-fresh install. Roblox itself is untouched either way.

If things are badly broken, choose the full wipe — it rules out corrupted settings in one move.
